Justin Verlander returned to the franchise over the offseason, but he was recently placed on the IL with an injury.

Tigers PR wrote (on April 4): “The Tigers today placed RHP Justin Verlander on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 1) with left hip inflammation. RHP Keider Montero has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo.”

On Saturday, the Tigers gave an update on the future Hall of Famer.

Jason Beck of MLB.com wrote: “Justin Verlander (hip) throwing another bullpen session today, this time higher intensity. He’s eligible to return from injured list next Thursday, but manager A.J. Hinch said he won’t be activated right away. He’ll likely get a rehab start or a sim game before he returns.”

At 43, he is far from his days as a superstar, but it’s still possible that Verlander could be an important arm for the Tigers in 2026.

Tigers PR wrote (on March 30): “Justin Verlander is set to join Don Sutton as the only pitchers in @MLB history to begin their career with at least 380 starts on their original team, followed by at least 175 starts elsewhere, and then return to appear again with their first club.”

He is in his 21st season in the Major Leagues.

Over 556 games, Verlander has gone 266-159 with a 3.33 ERA.
