Denver weather: Gradual warming all week, with a shot at year’s first 70-degree day this weekend

Keep turning up the temperature this week — 40s on Tuesday, 50s for Wednesday, 60s on the last two days of the work week — and then 70 on Saturday.

That’s the latest word on the final week of March from the National Weather Service in Boulder. The only exception to that delicious forecast is potential showers or flurries in the metro area Tuesday night, though little to no accumulation is expected. Any precipitation should wrap by 10 p.m.

Higher in elevation, the weather service does call for snow showers on Tuesday, with accumulations between 2 inches and 6 inches in Colorado’s high country, making for potential slick travel over higher mountain passes. The eastern plains could see afternoon rain or snow showers Tuesday afternoon as well.

Otherwise, it just gets better the deeper into the week we go, with more melting of the snow received Sunday and Monday. A high of 45 degrees Tuesday in metro Denver will leap to 53 on Wednesday, 63 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. Then it’s a forecast high of 70 on Saturday.

All week will feature partly cloudy to mostly sunny weather.

If Denver hits 70 on Saturday, it will be the first daily high temperature in the 70s in 2024. April begins on Monday.
