Denver is on track to hit 80-degree temperatures for the first time this year Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Saturday’s warm weather is expected to peak around 4 p.m., with high temperatures reaching 81 to 82 degrees, forecasters said.
Temperatures in the city came close to hitting the mark Friday, but fell short at a high of 75 degrees, according to NWS data.
A slight chance of rain in the Denver area between noon and 5 p.m. Saturday could cool off weather temporarily, but not enough to prevent the area from seeing those 80-degree temperatures, NWS forecasters said.
East of the city, warm and dry weather across the plains combined with gusty winds to increase fire weather conditions and prompted several red flag warnings and fire weather watches, according to a NWS hazardous weather outlook.
A red flag warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday for Pueblo County and the San Luis Valley, including Alamosa, Del Norte, Fort Garland and Saguache, forecasters said. Fire weather watches will continue in those areas — and in northern El Paso County — through Sunday evening.
Temperatures in Denver will dip down to 46 degrees overnight before rising back up 80 degrees Sunday, forecasters said.
While Sunday’s weather will remain warm and sunny in the Denver area, rain showers and thunderstorms forecasted for Monday and Tuesday will cool the city back off, according to NWS forecasters.
Rain is most likely between 10 p.m. Monday and 1 p.m. Tuesday, followed by off-and-on showers and storms throughout the rest of the week.
