Denver Nuggets Reveal Notable Aaron Gordon Concern Before Game 6

Heading into a critical Game 6, the Denver Nuggets can’t afford a loss on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The team plans to stay undermanned, as they’ve ruled out Peyton Watson once again. As for the veteran forward Aaron Gordon, his status is up in the air.

According to the official injury report, Gordon is listed as questionable. He continues to deal with left calf tightness, which has affected his availability and effectiveness throughout the series.

Following a practice session on Wednesday, Nuggets head coach David Adelman addressed Gordon’s situation.

“I thought Aaron in the first half (of Game 4) was very different from Aaron in the second half. And I know in both halves, he wasn’t moving great,” said the head coach, according to the Denver Post.

“So I’m not saying he looked great in the first half, but I thought his mobility, the way he guarded Randle in the post, we need that. I thought in the second half, you could see the wear and tear. Not to mention, for me, one of the hardest parts of a guy like that with a soft tissue thing is you’ve gotta get him back on the court quicker. I think when you get to halftime, you sit there for 20 minutes, that doesn’t help anybody.”

Adelman has been blunt about the Gordon situation, making it clear that he doesn’t believe the forward has been close to the best version of himself due to the physical limitations caused by his setback.

Throughout the five games played by the Nuggets, Gordon has played in just three matchups. He was ruled out for Games 3 and 5. When he played in Game 4, Gordon saw the court for just 23 minutes, which is well under his average.

“I’m not a doctor, and I’m not a trainer, but obviously, you guys could see it,” Adelman finished. “I could see it. There is a point where it’s not good for him. It’s not good for the team. And everybody knows Aaron wants to play. The guy’s the ultimate teammate. He’s been so good for us over the years. But we have to do what’s right for him and the team.”

The Nuggets and the Timberwolves are slated for a 9:30 PM ET tip. Denver doesn’t seem totally confident in Gordon’s ability to play. However, the door isn’t shut. The forward remains questionable.
