Helwani also compared Lesnar’s retirement to Gilbert Burns, who retired after his loss to Mike Mallott at UFC Winnipeg. He noted that the former heavyweight champion had a moment where he came to terms with retirement, similar to Burns.

“This felt impromptu, emotional. It felt like a fight, it felt like Gilbert Burns, like, ‘I’ve realized I’m not good enough, I’m old, I wanna do this and that, I’m done.’ I thought that was great and Oba Femi is the man.”
