Cyclist dies after collision with motorcycle rider in West San Jose

SAN JOSE — A bicyclist who was struck by a motorcyclist in West San Jose last week has died, police said Monday.

The collision happened at about 6:43 p.m. on Thursday on the 4400 block Hamilton Avenue. Police say a man riding a 2018 black Kawasaki Ninja was going east when he struck the woman cyclist, who was riding north across Hamilton Avenue. She suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she died on Sunday.

The death marks the 10th traffic fatality this year in San Jose.

The motorcyclist stayed after the crash and cooperated with police, authorities said in a news release. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a cause.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the bicyclist’s identity once it is confirmed and her next of kin are notified.
