CPD SWAT officer wounded in Albany Park shooting

A Chicago police SWAT officer and a woman were shot and wounded in the Albany Park neighborhood Monday morning on the Northwest Side, according to police sources.

The officer was shot in the stomach and woman was shot in the stomach, according to a preliminary police report. Both were taken to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center in unknown condition.

Two other people were hurt and were taken to area hospitals where their conditions weren’t immediately known, officials said. They were not believed to be shot.

An EMS Plan I was activated by the fire department, meaning that five ambulances were dispatched to the scene, fire officials said.

A suspect was taken into custody at about 1:15 p.m.
