Cowboys May Consider ‘Impatient’ Blockbuster Trade Amid NFL Draft: Exclusive

There are no shortage of rumors involving the Dallas Cowboys with the NFL draft fast approaching. Many of these rumors rarely come to fruition, but there is one idea that appears to be gaining steam.

During an exclusive interview with Heavy Sports, ESPN’s Matt Miller revealed that the Cowboys could get “impatient” and use their two first-round picks to land a top-five selection.

“Yeah, the Cowboys don’t need free publicity, right? They get enough,” Miller told Heavy Sports during an April 22, 2026, interview when asked about the Cowboys trade rumors. “I do think that we could see them get impatient, especially if there starts to be a move on those top defenders.

“So would they like to trade up to No. 3? I think they probably would. Now the question is, do the Cardinals want to trade out or do the Titans want to trade out? Are they incentivized in a draft like this not rich in blue chip talent? Would they want to move out of that spot? So I think Dallas packaging 12 and 20 to try to get up is realistic.”

Here’s what you need to know about the latest Cowboys rumors.

Cowboys Rumors: Dallas Continues to Consider Trading Up in the NFL Draft

It remains to be seen who the Cowboys’ target would be if the team moves up on draft day. Dallas could get aggressive in an effort to land one of the top pass rushers.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously reported that Ohio State pass rusher Arvell Reese could be a name to watch for Dallas as a potential trade-up target.

“Then Ohio State edge rusher Arvell Reese — or (David) Bailey, if the Jets take Reese at No. 2 — could slide to No. 5,” Schefter wrote on April 20. “It would suddenly be very tempting for a team such as the Cowboys to potentially trade up for a top-tier pass rusher.

“Again, the draft would have to go a specific way for this scenario to play out. But two teams raised this scenario this weekend, wondering if it somehow could unfold this week. It’s exactly the type of scenario that makes the draft so compelling.”

Cowboys Newly Linked to Star WR Jordyn Tyson

The Cowboys could opt to stick at No. 12 and No. 20, potentially landing two solid core players. Another option, Dallas moving up to potentially select a wide receiver like Jordyn Tyson, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

“Dallas is monitoring a trade market that has been quiet so far,” Fowler noted on April 22. “The Cowboys are comfortable staying put at Nos. 12 and 20 if need be because they feel they can get impact players at both picks, per a team source.

“Whether they can get a true blue-chip defensive player at 12 is the question, as this draft is short on them. If the Cowboys do move up, some league scouts believe Styles would be a possible target. At receiver, Dallas has a high grade on Tyson.”

Cowboys fans will soon have their answer with the draft clock about 24 hours from starting.
