Commanders Tied to Fallout From Maxx Crosby Prediction

The Washington Commanders have had a very busy NFL offseason. So far, they have not been one of the teams heavily tied a potential trade for Maxx Crosby.

Among the notable additions the Commanders have made this offseason are defensive end Odafe Oweh, cornerback Amik Robertson, tight end Chig Okonkwo, defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson, safety Nick Cross, and multiple others. They have been making a push to contend in 2026.

Just two short years ago, Washington was in the NFC Championship Game. Last year, the Commanders missed the playoffs and dealt with numerous key injuries.

With that being said, a new prediction has been made for Crosby that would heavily impact Washington moving forward.

Commanders Would Be Heavily Impacted by Latest Maxx Crosby Prediction

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell has suggested a potential trade between the Las Vegas Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles that would ship Crosby to the NFC East in exchange for a first-round pick this year, a third-round pick next year, and pass rusher Nolan Smith Jr.

Crosby being acquired by the Eagles would be a worst-case scenario for the Commanders.

There are few defensive players capable of having a bigger impact than Crosby. He may not receive the same amount of media attention that Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons get, but he is one of the elite pass rushers in the NFL.

Seeing him traded to Philadelphia would make things more difficult on Jayden Daniels and the Washington offense. The Commanders would have to face him twice per season moving forward. That would not be an ideal situation.

Washington Still Has a Major Offensive Need to Address

Early on in NFL free agency, Washington attempted to make a big move at wide receiver. The Commanders were finalists in pursuing both Alec Pierce and Romeo Doubs.

Unfortunately, both wide receivers chose to sign elsewhere. Washington has struck out on its top wide receiver targets this offseason. The Commanders pivoted to signing both Dyami Brown and Van Jefferson in free agency.

That being said, it’s likely that Washington would be open to adding a wideout if one becomes available. Brandon Aiyuk has been heavily rumored to be a target for the Commanders if the San Francisco 49ers decide to release him as expected.

Only time will tell whether or not Washington can get something done to bring in a wide receiver. There is still a need to add more help for Daniels, but options are dwindling.

However, the Crosby situation is also worth monitoring. The Raiders could simply choose to keep him, but this kind of blockbuster move is exactly what Howie Roseman likes to pursue.
