Commanders Encouraged to Land $157 Million WR to Support Jayden Daniels

The Washington Commanders added some offensive playmakers this offseason. But the more firepower Washington is able to acquire, the better equipped quarterback Jayden Daniels will be to have a strong third NFL season.

With that in mind, USA Today’s Nate Davis argued the Commanders could make another offseason addition for their offensive — Stefon Diggs.

Davis named Washington one of the six teams that makes sense for the receiver in 2026.

“After what seems like a one-and-done relationship with free agent Deebo Samuel, they have very little established wideout experience behind Terry McLaurin, who’s coming off his worst NFL season,” wrote Davis. “Diggs, who hails from nearby Gaithersburg, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland, would diversify and elevate this passing attack for third-year QB Jayden Daniels, whether or not 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk eventually lands here. And with nearly $50 million in available salary cap space, the Commanders could certainly afford to import Diggs better than most.”

Diggs is entering his 12th NFL season this fall. Last season with the New England Patriots, he had 85 catches, 1,013 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

According to Spotrac, Diggs has earned about $157.17 million during his NFL career.
