Colorado weather: Scattered storms, showers linger through midevening

Weekend storms and showers may linger across the state through midevening Monday, producing gusty winds, small hail and brief moderate to heavy rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Despite lingering storms, drier and warmer conditions are expected Monday throughout the state with wind gusts from 25 to 35 miles per hour in the mountains, foothills and along the Cheyenne Ridge. High temperatures will range from the 30s and 40s in the mountains to around 70 across the plains. Snow showers may briefly return to the northern mountains, mostly in Jackson, Grand and Larimer counties, in the evening as a passing storm brushes the state.

Monday’s forecast calls for sunny skies in Denver with a high of 67 degrees and wind gusts up to 16 miles per hour. Skies tonight will be partly cloud and temperatures will dip to a low of 45 degrees. Wind gusts could increase to 18 miles per hour.

Tuesday will be sunny and breezy with a high of 71 degrees and wind gusts as high as 29 miles per hour. Tuesday night will be partly cloud with a low of 43 degrees and wind gusts up to 22 miles per hour.

A storm system moving across the Central Rockies may bring scattered rain and mountain snow showers Wednesday and Thursday with isolated thunderstorms possible Wednesday afternoon and evening, according to the NWS.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny in Denver with a high of 70 degrees. Rain may return to the Denver area Wednesday afternoon with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 31 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation Wednesday night is 60% with showers and a thunderstorm possible overnight and a chance of showers after 3 a.m.

Showers may continue in Denver Thursday with a 30% chance of rain.
