Much of Colorado’s Front Range is under a red flag warning again Friday as forecasters predict another dry and windy day.
“The mild, dry and windy conditions could result in rapid fire spread if a fire were to form,” according to a social media post from the National Weather Service. “There is some relief on the way with multiple chances for precipitation next week.”
The warning spans from the Interstate 25 corridor to most of the northeast plains. There will be 15 to 25 mph winds with gusts up to 40 mph. The strongest gusts will be near Foothills and Cheyenne Ridge.
The warning will be in effect between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. To avoid starting a spark that could become a fire, officials ask Coloradans to be aware of creating sparks of any kind, including by avoiding driving on dry grass and properly discarding cigarettes.
