Colorado weather: Clouds could block view of Monday’s eclipse in some parts of the state

Coloradans looking forward to checking out the total solar eclipse on Monday may contend with clouds.

The eclipse is set to occur between 11:28 a.m. and 1:54 p.m., with the peak happening at 12:40 p.m. “Temperatures should be comfortable for viewing today’s eclipse across the plains and foothills,” the National Weather Service reports. Viewers are advised to wear eye protection.

Colorado notably doesn’t fall in the path of totality, which first arcs through Maine, then New York and Ohio before hitting Indiana, Arkansas and, finally, Texas.

Still, not all hope is lost: Patient Coloradans can look forward to another eclipse — on Aug. 12, 2045, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reports.

In Denver, the forecast is predicted as mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Tonight is expected to be mostly cloudy, and the low could drop to around 34 degrees. Tuesday may offer similar conditions, with anticipated sunny skies during the day and a partly-cloudy evening.
