Here’s what people were saying on social media:
@PrellersBurner: “Couldn’t fit his OPS in the screenshot, don’t hurt me. 1.022 in 2021, .955 in 2022, 1.042 in 2023 If just taking over his rookie deal, absolutely doesn’t hurt to take a flier on Encarnacion-Strand for the chance he can find this same form again. Can’t believe they DFA’d him”
@johnathon34646: “Exact kind of player the Marlins have been scooping up. High bat speed, swing tilt, pull air rate at the expense of some swing and miss. Without a true first baseman right now too would not be surprised to see them bring him in”
@MattEddyBA: “In the final 25 games of 2023, his MLB debut season, Encarnacion-Strand hit 9 home runs while batting .322/.365/.656 with a 25% strikeout rate.”
@JoshuaHowsam: “Encarnacion-Strand DFA is a dramatic fall. He was their starting 1B as a sophomore as recently as the start of 2024”
@ehatt493: “old enough to remember the Christian Encarnacion-Strand era in Cincinnati”
