Chuck Norris created a legacy within the world of martial arts that included the creation of his own discipline called Chun Kuk Do. The system of Chun Kuk Do reflects his philosophy of continuous evolution and became one of his great contributions to martial arts.

Rather than adhering strictly to one cultural discipline, Chun Kuk Do innovates the traditional approach to martial arts by blending several established disciplines and building upon the strengths of each form. These foundational disciplines include jiu-jitsu, karate, grappling arts, and Tang Soo Do. As a result, the system housed within Chun Kuk Do is well-rounded and adaptable – a sharp contrast to the static nature of ancient martial arts disciplines.

As an instructor of both karate and Chun Kuk Do, Chuck Norris’ career as a teacher of martial arts played a crucial role in expanding the sport within the United States. When he first began his practice in South Korea, martial arts were extremely niche in Western society. Through his lifetime commitment to advancing the disciplines and being the best in karate, Norris not only advanced his own practice but opened the doors for generations of martial artists to be introduced.
