Ahead of Thursday’s game, the Cubs announced that they had designated Corbin Martin for assignment.
Patrick Mooney of The Athletic wrote: “Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd underwent a partial meniscectomy today to address the issue with his left knee, the club announced. Amid this wave of injuries, the Cubs also reshaped their bullpen, recalling Gavin Hollowell from Triple A and designating Corbin Martin for assignment.”
Martin appeared in seven games for the Cubs this season.
He had a 10.80 ERA.

Martin was picked in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
He spent his rookie season with the Houston Astros before two years with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 30-year-old then spent last season pitching for the Baltimore Orioles.
On Wednesday night (despite their victory), Martin had blown the save.
@crawlyscubs of FlyTheW wrote (on Wednesday): “People are mad that Counsell went with Corbin Martin. What was he supposed to do? This team has half their pen on the IL, Palencia pitched last night, don’t know how he is feeling, Assad and Rolison pitched last night. Brown has pitched a ton.”
