Before Friday’s game, the Cubs announced that they had made a roster decision on Scott Kingery.
Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network wrote: “-RHP Vince Velasquez contract selected. –Caleb Thielbar placed on the 15-day IL with a left hamstring strain. -Scott Kingery designated for assignment.”

Kingery appeared in eight games for the Cubs this season.
He is batting .250 with one hit, two runs and one stolen base.
Kingery’s MLB Career

Kingery was picked in the second round of the 2015 MLB Draft.
He spent the first four years of his career playing for the Philadelphia Phillies.
During the 2019 season, Kingery batted .258 with 19 home runs, 55 RBI’s, 64 runs and 15 stolen bases in 126 games.
Matt Gelb of The Athletic wrote (on April 13): “Smattering of cheers for Scott Kingery as he takes his first at-bat of the season for the Cubs. It’s his first time at Citizens Bank Park since he departed the Phillies. A lot of old teammates and coaches sought him out pregame.”

Following the Cubs, Kingery had stints with the Los Angeles Angels (and Cubs).
Over 352 career games, the 31-year-old is batting .227 with 30 home runs, 96 RBI’s, 137 runs and 27 stolen bases.
