The Chicago Cubs are slated to begin the finale of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox at Wrigley Field at 1:20 p.m. CDT on Wednesday.
The Cubs won the first two games of the series in walk-off fashion.
Before Wednesday’s game, the Cubs revealed news on right-handers Daniel Palencia and Ben Brown.

Via the Chicago Tribune’s Meghan Montemurro on X: “RHP Daniel Palencia will be activated from the IL Friday in Seattle; RHP Ben Brown (neck) will face hitters Friday in Arizona”
Palencia has been on the IL since mid-June with right elbow inflammation.

The Cubs closer began a rehab assignment on Aug. 5.
Brown has been on the IL since June 24 with a neck strain.

Palencia is 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 19 strikeouts and three saves over 16 2/3 innings with the Cubs this year.
The right-hander also missed time on the IL earlier in the year with a left oblique strain.

Brown posted a 1.85 ERA with a 0.94 WHIP and 65 strikeouts in 68 innings across 20 outings (eight starts) before landing on the IL.
Brown threw 106 1/3 innings in 2025 and 55 1/3 innings in 2024.

The Cubs walked off the White Sox on Monday and Tuesday. Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a game-winning home run in the 10th inning on Monday, and Alex Bregman delivered a walk-off single on Tuesday.
Chicago has won six of its last 10 games. Before the White Sox series, the Cubs lost two of three games to the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs currently hold the first National League Wild Card spot with a 74-54 record.
Chicago is 4 1/2 games back of the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the National League Central.
