Celtics Make Significant Jaylen Brown Announcement Before Game 5 vs 76ers

The Boston Celtics enter Tuesday night’s Game 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers with a chip on their shoulders being 3-1 up in the series. They were considered favorites before the series began and fair enough, have lived up to the billing.

The assignment now is to finish the job at TD Garden or risk watching the resilient 76ers force a Game 6 back in Philadelphia.

Jaylen Brown Makes Influential List

Before the game tonight, the Celtics paused to celebrate a meaningful off-court milestone, as a couple of members of the organization were honored with citywide recognition.

The team posted a congratulatory message on social media today highlighting two key figures in the Boston sports landscape. The recognition comes from Boston Magazine’s annual “150 Most Influential Bostonians” list for 2026, which spotlights leaders across business, sports, politics and community who shape the city’s direction.

Two names made the cut, and one of them was star guard Jaylen Brown, the Celtics announced today.

“Difference makers. Congrats JB & Bill on your selection to @BostonMagazine’s 150 Most Influential Bostonians.”

Brown’s recognition was even more special as he landed as the No. 8 name on the list. The five-time NBA All-Star is praised as a community leader, which is why he is high up among other notable names of Bostonians.

In his recognition cited by the article, it reads, “[Brown] host a fundraising bowling event for Boston kids or an education fair in Roxbury, with more than 50 partnering organizations. Now in his 10th season wearing green — and carrying the Celtics through Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury — Brown is having his best year yet, averaging career highs across the board. He’s stepped up on and off the court, and the city adores him for it.”

The other Celtic in the prestigious list is lead owner William Chisholm, who appears at No. 74. He, like Brown, has helped the franchise and the community at large. He led an investment group that acquired the franchise for a record $6.1 billion and has overseen a strong season in its first year of new ownership.

The dual shout-out was a welcome one for the franchise looking to impact value on and off the court.

For Brown who has spent his entire career in Boston and epitomizes everything about the franchise. The 29-year-old has never worn another NBA uniform in his 10 seasons in the NBA and helped deliver the 2024 NBA title and earned Finals MVP honors that year. It was a well-deserved honor.

C’s Aim to End Series in Game 5

The Celtics and Brown will have to ramp up congratulations real quick and take Game 5 seriously for a spot in the second round.

The Sixers won the last encounter at Boston and with Joel Embiid now back, Boston will have to be cautious or deal with a Game 6.

Boston has put up strong defensive showings in the series so far with only that Game 2 blip being the only encounter in which Philadelphia has scored over 110 points.

Brown is averaging 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists so far in the series and the Celtics will hope his performance leads them to the second round.
