Campbell’s Pruneyard getting a new brewery restaurant

Laughing Monk Brewery, which a few years ago took over the Faultline Brewery restaurant in Sunnyvale, is now headed to Campbell.

The brewpub will fill the vacant Rock Bottom Brewery space at the Pruneyard, according to Regency Center’s leasing website. At nearly 10,000 square feet, it’s the largest restaurant space at the center.

Laughing Monk, which was founded as a Belgian specialist by home brewer Andrew Casteel, is now part of the Bedrock Restaurant Group’s portfolio.

“Holy Ghost is their terrific, award-winning German-style pilsner,” Bay Area News Group beer columnist Jay Brooks said after a tasting session at Monk’s San Francisco taproom in the Bayview district.

Besides the taproom, Laughing Monk operates a brewpub in San Francisco and one in Scotts Valley. The Sunnyvale brewpub is located on Oakmead Parkway near Highway 101.

In business at the Pruneyard for three decades, Rock Bottom closed abruptly in July 2025 after a lease disagreement between its corporate owners and Regency, according to San Jose Spotlight.

The brewpub had been known for its in-house brewing and the many fundraisers held for fire departments and nonprofits. The Houston-based chain, which was founded in Denver in 1991, currently operates five locations in Colorado, one in Illinois and one in Massachusetts..
