Camilla Araujo Goes Off on Mavericks’ Klay Thompson for Fumbling Megan Thee Stallion

The internet was divided when Grammy Award winner Megan Thee Stallion publicly accused Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson of cheating.

The dramatic breakup quickly became the biggest story in sports and far beyond. Now, retired content creator Camilla Araujo has joined the pile-on, firing shots at Thompson and issuing a pointed warning to women everywhere about dating professional athletes.

Camilla Araujo Calls Out Klay Thompson

Araujo did not hold back, calling Thompson’s actions a massive fumble and pointing directly at the culture surrounding professional sports as the root problem.

“The second you are on the team with Tom Brady or LeBron James, they see an attractive woman sitting in the front row, and all his teammates say, ‘She wants you,’” Araujo said. “It becomes normalized within that group — they just say, ‘They won’t find out.’”

ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith offered a different angle, refusing to defend cheating but questioning why Megan made it public. “The public at large did not know this man’s business at all until Saturday night,” Smith said. He also reminded viewers of Thompson’s legacy — “He is the other half of the Splash Brothers.”

Megan first addressed the split in an Instagram Story without naming Thompson directly. “Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got ‘cold feet.’ Holding you down through your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season,” she wrote. “Now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’???? I need a REAL break after this one.”

She later confirmed the breakup to TMZ. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship. When those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward,” Megan told the outlet.

Klay Thompson’s Difficult Mavericks Season

The off-court drama arrived at an already rough time for Thompson. The five-time All-Star played 62 games but made only eight starts as Dallas’ sixth man, averaging 11.7 points per game. His 38 percent three-point clip and 39 percent field goal percentage were both career lows.

Thompson’s‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ switch to a bench role in Dallas was hardly a smooth transition. In fact, it was in the summer of 2024 that he joined the Mavericks, turning down a bigger offer from the LA Lakers for a chance to team up with Luka Doncic.

This gamble hasn’t come close to winning for him. With Doncic moving to LA while the Mavericks are rebuilding around top draft pick Cooper Flagg, Thompson’s opportunities in Dallas are becoming very limited.

The team has made it very clear that they will consider trade proposals this summer. His contract has one more year at $17.4 million, and the Lakers remain the most talked-about destination. The Megan chapter may not be the only thing coming to an end in Dallas this summer.
