Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson Get Big News Before Super Bowl

Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears aren’t at the Super Bowl in 2026, but they had a stellar season, with a 11-6 record and the No. 1 spot in the NFC North. The team was on the road to go all the way, but they fell during the team’s NFL divisional playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, January 18, with a 20-17 final score, giving the Rams the chance to advance to the NFC Championship game.

“Our guys fought the entire way, just like they have all season long,” Johnson told reporters after the Bears’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams back on January 18. “I thought this was very much like our team has been, and you’ve got to give the Rams credit… they ended up making a couple more plays than we did. That’s why it ended up going into overtime and they ended up coming out on top. Like I said, disappointing result. Our guys are feeling it right now.”

He added, “They all believed, man. They all believed all year long that we could find a way to win each and every week. So, it’s disappointing like that. But I am proud of the group. It’s a special group. I said that a few weeks ago.”

Caleb Williams of the Chicago Bears Gets Good News at NFL Honors

On Thursday, February 5, Williams was awarded the Next Gen Stats Moment of the Year for his game-winning hail Mary touchdown pass to DJ Moore against the Green Bay Packers.

Williams wasn’t there, so Moore accepted the award for their special moment. It was really exciting to see this franchise get recognized for their moment on the field.

On the downside, Johnson did not win Coach of the Year. That honor went to New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel.

It wasn’t a surprise that Johnson didn’t win Coach of the Year. Vrabel’s team is in the Super Bowl, and Mike Macdonald from the Seahawks was also up for the award, so two coaches going to the big game were in the running.

Ben Johnson is Still a Winner With the Chicago Bears

But, that doesn’t take away with everything Johnson did for the Chicago Bears this season. He took them from the bottom of the NFC North to the top, and he’s not stopping now.

Following the Bears’ loss to the Rams, Johnson gushed about his team. “I believe that to my core, that when you’re with a group of men for the last time in the locker room and you know it’s just not going to be the same going forward that,” he said. “I appreciate all of them, the men and the women, coaches, players, support staff, everybody that had a role this season.”

Johnson added, “It was a special year. This will be hopefully a feeling in this locker room that we won’t forget, and we’ll be able to use it as fuel going forward.”

It, indeed, was a special year, and one that Chicago Bears fans won’t forget. Now, it’s time to plan for next season, and that’s already started.
