Cadillac F1 Shocked the entire motor sports world on Sunday with its one-of-a-kind Super Bowl ad, in which Formula 1’s newest manufacturer unveiled its 2026 livery. In preparation of Cadillac F1’s debut season in Formula 1, the team set up an activation area in New York City’s Times Square, known as the Cadillac Countdown box.
During Super Bowl LX at Leviâs Stadium, which is the most-viewed broadcast of the year, Cadillac F1 debuted its black-and-white livery.
âThis livery represents far more than a paint scheme; it represents who we are and what we bring to Formula 1,ââ Dan Towriss, CEO of Cadillac Formula 1 Team Holdings, said. âEvery detail is intentional: bold, modern, and unmistakably American, while respecting the heritage and precision that define this sport. Choosing to reveal our first race livery during the Super Bowl and in the heart of Times Square is a way to introduce our identity to the world at the intersection of performance, culture, and entertainment, and to connect with fans in places far beyond the paddock.ââ
According to Cadillac F1, the creation of the commercial was quite strategic. Not only did it raise awareness for America’s second Formula 1 team on the grid, but it also got fans excited about Cadillac.
“Drawing on cinematic craft and musical restraint, the livery reveal film is directed by Sam Piling, whose work is known for turning simple ideas into visceral, high-impact visual statements, and scored by Max Richter, one of the worldâs most influential contemporary composers,” the team wrote. “The livery uses asymmetry as a deliberate design philosophy: a yin-and-yang balance expressed through stark black and white, where grit, determination, and performance meet aspiration, optimism and ambition.”
Preparing For The 2026 Formula 1 Season
Cadillac F1 has its work cut out ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 campaign.
The team signed drivers Sergio Pérez, who sat out the 2025 season after being let go from Red Bull Racing, and Valtteri Bottas, a 10-time Formula 1 winner, to pilot the new liveries.
Colton Herta, who’s been competing in the NTT IndyCar Series, is making the move to Cadillac F1 while also running in Formula 2, to eventually become a Formula 1 driver. Herta will be the team’s test driver in 2026 in an attempt to bring an American driver back to the grid.
The team debuted on-track recently at Silverstone in a pre-season test, making its first laps. Reserve driver Zhou Guanyu joined the two main pilots in the test, shaking down the new racecars.
Sergio Pérez’s Return
Fans have been waiting eagerly for Pérez to return to Formula 1 racing. The popular Mexican racer has six Formula 1 victories in his 14-year career.
Pérez joined Red Bull after impressing the paddock with BWT Racing Point, with whom he won at Bahrain in 2020. When he joined Red Bull in 2021 as the No. 2 driver behind Max Verstappen, Pérez impressed many.
Pérez finished second in the 2023 Formula 1 championship campaign. However, a dismal 2024 season, in which he only scored four podium finishes, led to his departure from the team. Instead of competing for a back-marker organization in 2025, he opted to take a year off from Formula 1 competition, a move that enabled him to sign with the 11th team on the grid.
