With the Cleveland Cavaliers getting on the board, the Detroit Pistons’ chances of forming a sweep in the second round are officially out the window.
Cade Cunningham and his team allowed the Cavaliers to close the gap, but Detroit still holds the power in the series. Cunningham’s team will have to play another outing in Ohio this week.
Despite the loss, the Pistons are in good spirits–confident about where they are at.

âWe feel great about where weâre at. We feel great about the way weâre playing basketball. Coming into their gym, they had energy. They made shots, you know they are going to make more shots,” Cunningham told reporters after the game.
“The whistles are going to go their way, naturally. I thought we did a good job of withstanding all of that and still putting ourselves right there to win the game. Weâll execute better and pull these games out in the future. Tough one, obviously, we wish we wouldâve grabbed this one. It is what it is, learn from it.â

Cunningham and the Pistons fell short with a 116-109 loss.
The star guard checked in for 39 minutes. He shot 10-27 from the field and went 5-6 from the free-throw line to score 27 points.

Cunningham racked up a triple-double by adding 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
The Cavaliers controlled the game for most of the afternoon, but the Pistons teased a comeback. In the end, a desperate Cleveland team found a way to seal the game.

The Pistons only have a one-game cushion, but they’ve been the better team throughout the series.
On Monday, May 11, the Pistons will have an opportunity to gain a 3-1 lead over Cleveland. The teams will tip off in Ohio at 8 PM ET.
