The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a head scratching season, one that began with promise but ended in disappointment. Tampa Bay looked like a potential Super Bowl contender early on, starting the year 6-2, but struggled down the stretch and finished 8-9. The late season collapse cost the Buccaneers a playoff berth, marking their first time missing the postseason since 2019.
This season also appears to mark the end of an era for running back Rachaad White. Drafted by Tampa Bay in 2022, White had never missed the playoffs in his NFL career until this year. With questions already surrounding his future with the team, recent developments suggest his time in Tampa Bay may be coming to an end.
White posted a message that many fans believe was a goodbye to Tampa Bay on his official X account.
âI am officially signing out I have to, see yaw soon @ da next destination. One love,â White wrote.
The Buccaneersâ third round selection out of Arizona State in the 2022 NFL Draft will be a free agent during the 2026 offseason, and the message suggests he is preparing to take his talents to another team.

Potential Team Fits for Rachaad White
Free agency does not begin until March, but it is not too early to speculate which teams could be in the market for Rachaad White, especially as it appears highly unlikely he will reunite with Tampa Bay.
The 26 year old running back is coming off a season in which he rushed for 572 yards and recorded 218 receiving yards, according to ESPN.
One potential landing spot for the veteran running back is the Kansas City Chiefs, who are coming off a disappointing 6-10 season that surprised many around the league. Both Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt are set to become free agents in this offseason, and if the Chiefs lose one of those backs, White could be a replacement option.
White would also have the opportunity to play alongside one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Patrick Mahomes, making Kansas City an attractive landing spot.
Another team that could consider White in free agency is the New Orleans Saints. According to Fox Sports, the Saints had one of the worst rushing offenses in the NFL during the 2025 season, ranking 28th while averaging just 94.3 rushing yards per game.
Adding a proven veteran like White to pair with Alvin Kamara could make sense for New Orleans, especially considering Kamara will be 31 during the 2026 season and is set to become a free agent in 2027.

The Good News For Tampa Bay
Obviously, the Buccaneers already have a strong running back in 23 year old Bucky Irving, so they will not have to worry about adding a number one running back.
If White does indeed sign elsewhere, though, the team could still be in the market for another running back.
The good news is that this free agency is loaded with strong running backs, and if the Buccaneers want to address the running back position, the odds are they can land a reliable player.
