Bruins Trade Pitch Reunites With $38.5 Million Canucks Forward

The Boston Bruins have been quiet so far on trade deadline, but that should change. After an ugly 6-3 loss to the Nashville Predators in their final game ahead of the trade deadline, it is clear that the Bruins should be looking to make some upgrades to their roster. This is especially so when noting that the Columbus Blue Jackets are now just one point behind them for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

Speaking of the Blue Jackets, they also just made a big trade with the Vancouver Canucks for Conor Garland. The Bruins were one of the teams who were in the mix for Garland, but they did not get him. As a result of this, the Bruins now must explore other options and have an intriguing target to consider in one of their former players: Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk.

Due to this, we here at Heavy Sports have a trade pitch that would have the Bruins land DeBrusk from the Canucks in a reunion trade.

Bruins Get:

  • Jake DeBrusk

Canucks Get:

  • Mikey Eyssimont
  • 2026 Second-Round Pick
  • 2026 Fourth-Round Pick

Bruins Have Been Linked to Canucks’ Jake DeBrusk Ahead of Trade Deadline

With the Bruins in need of another skilled winger in their middle six, they have been linked to DeBrusk leading up to the 2026 NHL trade deadline. Recently, The Fourth Period reported that the Bruins are among the teams that have expressed interest in DeBrusk with the Canucks being in full selling mode.

“The Boston Bruins, Seattle Kraken and Detroit Red Wings are among the teams believed to have some interest in DeBrusk, who has jumped onto TFP’s latest Trade Watch List,” The Fourth Period wrote.

When noting that the Bruins need more scoring in their top nine, it makes sense that they have DeBrusk on their radar. The 2015 first-round pick provided them with solid secondary offensive production for the majority of his time with the Black and Gold, and he could very well do the same if the Bruins brought him back for a second stint.

DeBrusk has played in 60 games this season with the Canucks, where he has recorded 13 goals, 17 assists, and 30 points. This is after he scored a career-high 28 goals and recorded 48 points in 82 games with the Canucks in 2024-25. With numbers like these, he could slot very nicely on the Bruins’ second line if brought back to Boston.

Canucks’ DeBrusk Could Use a Change of Scenery

The Canucks are having a nightmare 2025-26 season, and DeBrusk has been open about his frustration with it. Recently, the former Bruins winger made it clear that he is not a fan of the Canucks being in a rebuild.

“I think a rebuild is hard for every player, but at the same point it’s a great opportunity for younger guys, This game humbles everybody and it’s been a little bit more than humbling this year. Obviously, that is not something I would be okay with or accepting,” DeBrusk said.

With DeBrusk being so transparent, it is certainly possible that the Canucks could end up dealing him by Friday afternoon. It will be fascinating to see if the Bruins’ interest in DeBrusk leads to them bringing him back to Boston.
