Browns Send Message on Jalen Reagor After Try Out

The Cleveland Browns had a unique prospect on the field during their rookie minicamp.

The Browns hosted former first-round pick Jalen Reagor on a tryout basis as they continue exploring options to reshape the offense.

Reagor, 27, was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of TCU. Philadelphia famously took him one spot ahead of Justin Jefferson, a decision that has become one of the draft’s most glaring misses in recent memory.

The Eagles moved on after just two seasons, trading Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings for a seventh-round pick and a conditional fifth. He later spent time with the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Chargers, largely serving in reserve and practice squad roles.

Across six NFL seasons, Reagor has appeared in 64 games, totaling 86 receptions for 1,037 yards and four touchdowns. His most impactful contributions have come in the return game, including a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown with New England in 2023.

Still, Browns head coach Todd Monken saw enough in the workout to come away encouraged by what Reagor could potentially bring.

“I mean, certainly most of the tryout guys, you’re bringing in are younger players,” Monken said. “But obviously we want to take a look at Jalen. He does have a skill set, and I thought he did a great job today.”

Browns Rebuild With Talented Rookie Receivers

The Browns didn’t waste any time in the draft addressing the receiver position. Cleveland selected KC Concepcion at No. 24 overall and then circled back with their next pick, taking Denzel Boston at No. 39.

“I think that we’re going to bring a good mix of explosiveness and having explosive plays after explosive plays. Both of us have generated tons of touchdowns throughout our college careers,” Boston said after being picked. “So, I think those are the two things for sure you can look forward to.”

The duo got their first taste of life as Browns this week at rookie camp. And while the on-field work was limited, it gave Monken an early look at what his new weapons bring to the offense.

“You can see his catch radius. That’s what you can see. He does have quick feet. Getting off the line of scrimmage, you can see that. Again, does a really good job getting in and out of breaks for someone with his length,” Monken said of Boston. “Seeing him move around, you can really see his skill set.”

Browns Not Worried About KC Concepcion Knee Surgery

One of the concerns that came with Concepcion was that he recently underwent a knee scope. But neither Concepcion nor the Browns are worried about it.

“We monitored him a little bit, but he was clear,” Monken said. “He was good to go, and he looks great. We just want to make sure we get through basically this weekend and the first week, so when the other guys get back and we’re able to go like we are today and see what we’ve got.”

Concepcion and Boston join a Browns wide receiver room that includes Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman and Isaiah Bond. The Browns still expect Jeudy to be their “bell cow,” but the rookies should have plenty of opportunity to put up numbers.
