The Cleveland Browns addressed their wide receiver hole with the 24th overall pick.
Cleveland traded down from sixth overall to the ninth overall pick and selected Spencer Fano. Now, with their second pick in the first round, the Browns selected wide receiver KC Concepcion out of Texas A&M.
Cleveland entered the 2026 NFL Draft with a clear need at wide receiver and offensive tackle, and after the first round, the Browns addressed both.
Concepcion was an impact receiver at Texas A&M in his lone season with the Aggies after two years at NC State. The 5-foot-11 receiver recorded 61 receptions for 919 yards and 9 touchdowns last season at Texas A&M.
Concepcion joins the Browns’ receiving room that features Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, Isaiah Bond, and Malachi Corley. Tight end Harold Fannin Jr. is also a key part of the Browns pass catching offense.
How Will Concepcion Fit With the Browns?
Concepcion gives the Browns another legit receiver to bolster the offense.
Concepcion did have some drop problems last season, but that is something many evaluators felt like he could improve on. He’s known for his immediate burst and separation, as his acceleration in the first 15 yards is his calling card, which allows him to get open and create yards after the catch.
He also adds some more youth to the receiver unit, which is something general manager Andrew Berry wanted to address this offseason, but he did like the unit.
“I think we can add all across the offense to be honest,” Berry said. “We’re really pleased with some of the younger players we have. Jerry is gonna be a big part of it. And we’re pleased with Isaiah’s (Bond) rookie year. But that doesn’t mean we can’t add to the arsenal. Malachi (Corley), he carved out a nice role.”
Concepcion, meanwhile, can also rush the ball if needed, as he did rush for a touchdown and 75 yards on 10 carries last season, adding a bit of trickery to the Browns’ offense.
With Berry already liking the receiver unit, adding Concepcion makes the unit even better and gives whoever is at quarterback some more weapons.
Concepcion Called Himself the Best WR in Draft
Ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, Concepcion was oozing with confidence in his skill set.
Concepcion sent a letter to NFL teams and declared himself the best wide receiver in the draft and someone who will thrive in the NFL.
“Dear NFL GMs, By now you’ve probably heard that I stutter,” Concepcion wrote in The Players’ Tribune. “Everyone has. And look, I get it. … Since I’ve got the pen this time, let me tell you the more complete story. Here’s who I also am: I’m the best receiver in this draft. Period. I run crisp routes, I catch everything thrown anywhere near me, I work my tail off every practice, every drill. I get in and out of my breaks fast. And I will outwork ANYBODY you put in front of me.”
Concepcion didn’t stop there as he closed out his letter by doubling down and telling GMs to draft him.
“Before I get out of here, I do want to say, once again, for all to hear, that I’m the best receiver in this draft,” Concepcion added. “But, at the end of the day, I’m so much more than just a football player. And any team that picks me is going to realize that immediately. So if you’re a GM out there reading this, put me on your team, and let’s get to work. You’re not going to regret calling my name. Never. And I mean never. Did I stutter?”
Concepcion will look to make good on his word with the Browns.
