The Denver Broncos just caught another significant break ahead of Saturdayâs AFC Divisional Round matchup.Â
As Sports Illustrated noted, the Buffalo Billsâ already thin wide receiver room took yet another devastating hit.
Bills wide receiver Tyrell Shavers has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the postseason.Â
Head coach Sean McDermott confirmed the news on Tuesday following Buffaloâs 27-24 Wild Card win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.Â
âJust amazing what he was able to do to come back in the game and play the way that he did,â McDermott said.Â
After somehow being able to finish the game, further testing revealed the ACL tear, officially ending Tyrell Shavers’ season.Â
The Bills also lost Gabe Davis to a season-ending ACL tear on Sunday, compounding a growing injury crisis at wide receiver for Buffalo as it heads into Denver.Â
Billsâ Receiver Room Suddenly Cut in Half
The Bills have now lost both wide receivers Tyrell Shavers and Gabe Davis to ACL tears in the last 48 hours.Â
This wipes out two of Buffaloâs main contributors at the receiver position.Â
As things stand now, Buffalo has just three healthy wide receivers on its active roster: Khalil Shakir, Brandin Cooks, and Keon Coleman. Â
Curtis Samuel (elbow) was designated to return to practice this week, but his availability for Saturday remains uncertain.Â
Even if heâs activated, itâs unclear how effective he would be after missing significant time.Â
Behind them, Buffalo may be forced to lean on practice-squad call-ups like Mecole Hardman Jr., Kristian Wilkerson, or Stephen Gosnell.Â
None of them have played meaningful roles in this offense this season.
For a Broncos defense that thrives on pressuring quarterbacks and limiting explosive plays on the outside, the timing could not be better.Â
Josh Allen Must Be Superman Against Elite Broncos Defense
If the Bills are going to survive this matchup, it will likely require another heroic performance from Josh Allen.Â
Denverâs defense has been among the leagueâs best all season, ranking near the top in points allowed, pressure rate, and third-down efficiency.Â
The Broncos thrive on collapsing pockets, disguising coverages, and daring offenses to beat them without full personnel strength.Â
This is exactly the situation Buffalo now finds itself in.Â
Despite these injuries being great news for Denver, they cannot get complacent and take the Bills offense easy.Â
Because Allen is capable of doing it on his own.Â
In the past, he has beaten elite defenses, often using his legs, improvisation, and sheer willpower carrying the Bills when things break down around him.Â
With only three active receivers on the current roster, Buffalo will look to establish their run game with James Cook.Â
Cook averaged 95.4 rushing yards per game this season, leading the league with 1,621 rushing yards.Â
He averaged an unbelievable 5.2 yards per carry.Â
Cook’s explosiveness, alongside Allenâs ability to take over a game, should still scare the Broncos defense despite the lack of weapons on the outside.Â
The Broncos come into this game the healthiest they have been all season, while Buffalo limps into the Divisional Round shorthanded.Â
After initially being underdogs, the Broncos are now 1.5 point favorites after the Bills injury news.
