Broncos-Falcons Trade Idea Lands Kyle Pitts As Evan Engram Replacement

It’s draft week in the National Football League! And several teams across the NFL have big decisions to make with players on their roster. That includes both the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons.

For Denver, they fell one game short of the Super Bowl a season ago and will enter the 2026 season with very high aspirations. With Evan Engram aging, the belief around the Broncos organization is that they will try to target a tight end in some capacity during this year’s NFL Draft.

Kyle Pitts, who is fresh off the best season of his career, might be on the trading block, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and other reports.

Here is what Schefty wrote about the status of Kyle Pitts in a potential trade: “Watch to see if the Falcons can find a trade partner for Kyle Pitts, who they’re open to dealing.”

Pitts has the potential to become one of the best tight ends in the NFL.

Per Heavy on Sports news desk, a feasible trade package between the Broncos and Falcons would be Denver sending Atlanta its second-round pick (No. 62) in exchange for Kyle Pitts. Pitts signed the franchise tag in Atlanta for $15 million.

The Broncos are looking for an upgrade at tight end and Pitts still has high upside as a former first-round pick heading into his age-26 campaign. Atlanta has a new head coach in Kevin Stefanski who schemed David Njoku into a Pro Bowl campaign in 2023 and made third-round rookie Harold Fannin Jr. the top pass-catching producer in Cleveland last year. Thus, he may be interested in keeping Pitts on the roster in 2026. But the TE is playing on just a one-year contract worth $15 million and a second-round pick is reasonable value for a player who hasn’t lived up to his draft position.

Kyle Pitts quietly had one of the best seasons for a tight end in 2025. He hauled in 88 catches for 928 yards and five touchdown receptions.

With the Broncos having more stability in their quarterback room than Atlanta, Pitts could flourish in the end zone in Denver.

The Atlanta Falcons drafted Kyle Pitts in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft with their fourth overall pick.

He’s started 72 of his 78 games played in his career. So he’s durable and has been on the field for most of his five-year NFL career.

In those 78 games, Pitts has 284 career receptions with 3579 total receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns.

In each season of his career, Kyle Pitts has increased his touchdown total (1 in 2021, 2 in 2022, 3 in 2023, 4 in 2024, etc).
