Brittany Mahomes Gives Fans Their First Up-Close Look at Patrick Mahomes’ Season-Ending Injury

Brittany Mahomes shared a new look at Patrick Mahomes’ recovery during a family trip, giving fans their first clear view of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s knee following his season-ending injury.

On April 13, Brittany posted photos on Instagram from a Texas farm trip with Patrick and their three children: daughters Golden Raye and Sterling Skye, and son PatrickBronzeLavon III. The images showed the family spending time outdoors, including moments with animals and around a campfire.

“Go to a TX farm, invite all ya friends and fam🤍 the best weekend with our squad! 🙏🏼,” Brittany wrote in the caption.

Several of the photos offered a closer look at Patrick’s left leg without the compression sleeve or brace he had previously worn after surgery. In one image, he sat on a paddleboard while holding his youngest daughter, revealing a visible scar along his kneecap.

Patrick Mahomes Injury Details and Surgery Timeline

Patrick suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during the closing minutes of the Kansas City Chiefs’ December 14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The 16-13 result ended the team’s playoff hopes.

An MRI confirmed the severity of the injury after the game. The quarterback underwent surgery the following night in Dallas. Dr. Dan Cooper, the Dallas Cowboys’ head team physician, performed the procedure. According to ESPN, the surgery also addressed a torn LCL in Mahomes’ left knee.

Following the procedure, the Chiefs announced that Mahomes would begin his rehabilitation process immediately.

Mahomes addressed the injury in a social media post shortly after it occurred.

Don’t know why this had to happen,Mahomes wrote. And not going to lie, [it] hurts. But all we can do now is [trust] in God and attack every single day over and over again. Thank you, Chiefs kingdom, for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers. I [will] be back stronger than ever.”

Rehab Progress and Recovery Updates for Chiefs QB1

Since the surgery, updates from the team and league insiders have pointed to steady progress in Mahomes’ recovery.

In late March, Mahomes and the Chiefs shared video footage of him dropping back and throwing a pass, just 100 days after surgery.

NFL insider Jay Glazer discussed the quarterback’s recovery timeline and approach, suggesting Mahomes could return earlier than expected.

Patrick’s different,Glazer said on The Dan Patrick Show.He went down and immediately got the surgery. Got the surgery the next day, which normally they don’t do because you want the swelling to [go down]. He got it before it really swelled up. That was on a Tuesday. I believe it was either Thursday or Friday of that week, he was already in the Chiefs’ training room doing rehab. He already had gotten his knee bending 90 degrees at that point.”

Glazer continued,He’s just different. He heals differently. His pain threshold’s different. His work effort’s different. At first they were [talking about returning] the start of the season. I would hedge on him being [back] sooner than that, by far.”

Head coach Andy Reid also shared insight into Mahomes’ daily routine during rehab.

He’s around here all the time,Reid said.He spends a ton of time here, seven hours a day. He’s in there cranking away and making progress every day. It’s great to see. [Athletic trainer Julie Frymyer] grinds on him and makes sure he stays on task and challenges him. He keeps showing up.”

Reid added,It’s not going to be a pleasant thing. Every day, you’ve got to fight through it and you’ve got to attack the challenge of the workout and rehab. He’s doing a great job with that.”
