Brad Keselowski on Tyler Reddick Battle in Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway: “I Tried to Make His Life Hell”

Brad Keselowski did everything he could to hold off Tyler Reddick in the closing laps of the Goodyear 400, but it still wasn’t enough at Darlington Raceway. The RFK Racing driver led a race-high 142 laps on March 22, only to watch Reddick pull away late and secure his fourth win of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season.

The battle between Keselowski and Reddick defined the final stage. Once Reddick got clean air, the gap grew quickly, turning what looked like a fight into a clear result. Keselowski finished second, 5.847 seconds behind, after controlling much of the race early.

Keselowski didn’t hold back when describing the final run against Reddick at Darlington Raceway. He knew the No. 45 car had an edge once it got out front.

“I was doing all I could to make his life hell, and he was so much faster, it didn’t matter. That’s how it goes.”

That difference showed up most over long runs. While Keselowski maintained track position for much of the race, he could not match Reddick’s pace when it counted most in the Goodyear 400.

Reddick led 77 laps after starting from the pole and executed late to take control. The performance added another strong result to his early 2026 NASCAR Cup Series campaign.


Goodyear 400 Highlights Gap Between Toyota and the Rest of the Field

Brad Keselowski pointed to a broader trend when explaining why Reddick had the advantage at Darlington Raceway. According to him, Toyota teams have found something early in the season.

“I honestly think all the Toyotas are that much better. They’re clearly up on horsepower and downforce right now, and he’s making that count. He deserves a lot of credit.”

Even with that view, Keselowski made it clear the result was not just about equipment. Reddick still had to execute, especially at a track known for punishing mistakes.

The NASCAR Darlington 2026 race once again showed how important long-run speed has become, particularly with tire falloff playing a major role throughout the field.

The Goodyear 400 also served as another test for NASCAR’s updated short-track package. With horsepower increased, drivers faced a more demanding race, especially in traffic.

“The cars were just incredibly difficult to drive. As a driver, you’re just trying to finish the lap. When you’re around other cars, you have to be really smart and really careful.”

He did see improvement compared to earlier races this season.

“I thought the cars were a lot better in traffic today than they’ve been. So that was a gain.”

Ryan Blaney finished third, rounding out the podium behind Reddick and Keselowski. Still, the focus stayed on the battle at the front.

Brad Keselowski showed speed and control throughout the Goodyear 400, but Tyler Reddick’s late-race pace made the difference. At Darlington Raceway, execution over the final run decided the outcome, and Reddick delivered when it mattered most.
