Boy, 16, fatally shot in South Lawndale drive-by

Police are looking for the vehicle responsible for a drive-by shooting that fatally wounded a 16-year-old boy late Tuesday in South Lawndale.

Around 11:10 p.m., the teen was standing outside in the 2600 block of South Hamlin Avenue when a vehicle approached and someone inside opened fire, striking him in the head and chest, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police reported no arrests.


Area 4 detectives were investigating.
