Boston Red Sox Get New Triston Casas Update Before Twins Game

The Boston Red Sox are currently taking on the Minnesota Twins in a three-game series at Target Field. Boston dropped to 6-10 with an ugly loss in game one of the series.

Before the second game in the Twins series, Red Sox reporters indicated that first baseman Triston Casas is battling an abdominal strain.

Triston Casas to Remain Sidelined with Abdominal Strain

Per Roto Wire, Casas will remain sidelined from baseball activities until he feels better:

“Casas began the regular season on the injured list to finish up his recovery from patellar tendon surgery but began to have problems with his left side after he resumed a swinging progression. Now that he’s been confirmed to be dealing with an abdominal strain, the 26-year-old will be shut down from all activity until he begins to feel better. The Red Sox will then begin to build him up in a similar fashion to spring training, at which point a clearer timeline for his return to play could emerge.”

Triston Casas appeared in just 29 games before tearing his patellar tendon in his knee in 2025, and hit just .182 with three home runs and 18 hits. Since 2024, Casas has played in just 92 games, and it sounds like he’s set to miss a handful of games this season as well. It might be time for the Red Sox to make a decision on Triston Casas.

It’s been a tough road to recovery for Triston Casas after the devastating knee injury last year, and the constant setbacks aren’t good news for his case either.

It’s unclear when he will get back to baseball activities this time, but it’s not soon, and that’s the assumption right now. The Red Sox really need to start thinking about what’s next for the 26-year-old infielder.

In 251 total games in his career, Casas has a collective bWAR of 2.2 with 45 home runs, 120 RBI, and a career .241 average.
