The final day of the 2025-26 NBA regular season has arrived for the Boston Celtics and the other 29 teams.Â
Just like that, the 82-game marathon has reached its final day. The play-in tournament and the playoff picture is almost set in stone. A few games will decide some lower seedings in both conferences, but the big boys are set.Â
It is all about the results of the play-in tournament next. The top two seeds in each conference will discover their first round opponents before next weekend.Â

For the Celtics, it has been a truly promising season. An unforgettable one up until this point. A lot of work is left to be done, but how Boston has fared over the last seven months is incredibly indicative of its championship backbone.Â
The Câs have already clinched the second seed in the Eastern Conference and have 55 wins to their name, two strikingly impressive feats considering the lowly preseason expectations.Â
Tonightâs game at TD Garden doesnât impact Boston in any way, win or lose, but there is still one interesting nugget to watch out for.Â
Boston Celtics See Wild Development Ahead of Sundayâs Game
It is typical on the last day of the season to see playoff-bound teams rest their starters. Sitting the top seven or even eight guys of the rotation is rather commonplace. But the Celtics may see something crazier tonight.Â
Yesterday, the team announced a predictably long injury report, but looking deeper into it, the report shows nearly the entire rotation.Â
Could Boston be forced to forfeit this game because it doesnât have anyone to play?Â
Of course, that isnât the case. But whatever rotation the Celtics throw out there tonight is potentially going to see major minutes.Â
With Nikola Vucevic, Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser all listed as doubtful to play, there is a strong possibility for Boston to have merely nine available players, which just barely meets the league requirement of eight available players.
Of the potentially nine players in uniform, at least three of them will be those who have seen minimal minutes this season.Â
The Boston Celtics could quite possibly look like the Maine Celtics tonight, or even worse.
Celtics Aiming for Fully Healthy Playoff Rotation
Considering how critical Pritchard, Vucevic and Hauser are for Boston, it wonât be at all surprising to see them sitting on the bench in street clothes tonight.Â
The Celtics have been hit relatively hard by the injury bug this season. Fortunately, their league MVP candidate, Jaylen Brown, has been mostly healthy outside of some light Achilles trouble lately. Other than him, key rotational pieces have missed time. Of course, everyone knows Jayson Tatumâs story. Even Vucevic sustained a ring finger fracture a couple of weeks after being traded to the Celtics.
But finally, the team is getting whole. There canât be a better time to be fully healthy than now, and Boston hopes to reap the benefits from it this postseason.Â
Even if the three names listed as doubtful play tonight, expect a Celtics loss tonight. They are playing a healthy Magic team still fighting for positioning in the East.
