Blockbuster Trade Pitch Swaps $96 Million Eagles Star for Maxx Crosby

When it comes to seeking out other teams’ distressed assets and spinning them into gold, there have been few executives in NFL history who can do it as good as Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman.

Right now, there is a primo distressed asset out there who might be able to help the Eagles win another Super Bowl, and you can bet Roseman is at least going to kick the tires to see if there’s a way he could bring his team Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby after his failed trade to the Baltimore Ravens that would have brought the Raiders 2 1st round picks.

The Ringer’s Sheil Kapadia proposed a trade on Wednesday morning on “The Ringer NFL Show” that would bring Crosby to the Eagles.

“How about this? How about a deal that includes A.J. Brown and Maxx Crosby, because it’s always been about (Roseman) just getting on the phone and saying ‘Hey, this could be fascinating’ and going from there,” Kapadia said. “(The Eagles) say we don’t want to offer you 2 1st round picks, but what if we gave you A.J. Brown and a 2nd round pick for Maxx Crosby? Who says ‘No’ to that? I think the Eagles ask if they can get a later pick back, so maybe like A.J. Brown, a 2nd round pick and a 5th round pick for Maxx Crosby?”

It would also address pressing needs for both teams — the Raiders don’t have a WR1, and the Eagles don’t have an elite edge rusher.

They also have similar contracts. Brown signed a 3-year, $96 million contract extension before the 2024 season, and Crosby signed a 3-year, $106.5 million contract extension before the 2025 season.

Brown-Raiders Popular Pairing in Trade Rumors

The Raiders have been a popular trade destination in rumors surrounding Brown, who crashed out for the 2nd season in a row with the Eagles in terms of throwing his teammates under the bus and general meltdowns over his role in the offense.

It also satisfies one of Roseman’s main criteria for a Brown trade — that he lands with an AFC team.

“The Bills trading for WR D.J. Moore would theoretically take them out of the A.J. Brown market,” The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane wrote on his official X account on March 5. “They checked in with the Eagles about their wide receiver, from what I understand. Patriots and Ravens are the most likely potential partners, especially as I understand it, the Eagles are inclined to only deal with AFC teams.”

Previous Heavy Trade Pitch Sent Brown to Raiders

Before the Crosby debacle, Heavy.com’s Max Dible’s pitched a trade to send Brown to the Raiders in exchange for a 2026 2nd round pick.

“If (the Raiders) need to throw in a sixth-rounder along with it, fine,” Dible said. “Vegas has Brock Bowers, who is likely to assume the mantle of best tight end in the NFL sooner than later. They also hold the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, which looks a lot like Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza as the CFP is about to begin. The two things the team must do is secure him a No. 1 wide receiver to complement Bowers and Ashton Jeanty, then spend whatever they need to in draft capital or salary cap funds to put a workable offensive line in front of the rookie. The Nos. 33 and 184 picks (currently) is a nice haul for Brown, who is under contract through 2029 on a $96 million extension he signed earlier this year.”
