Blackhawks Top 3 2026 Offseason Trade Candidates

The Chicago Blackhawks will enter the 2026 offseason in familiar territory. The club will likely land a high draft pick, while potentially shipping out veteran pieces. The only difference this time is that the Hawks won’t be moving out veterans to get back futures. They’ll be moving out vets to give young stars a shot at regular playing time.

That said, the Blackhawks could be active this offseason as they look to usher in a new era. So, here’s a look at the top three Chicago Blackhawks trade candidates during the 2026 offseason.

Top 3 Chicago Blackhawks 2026 Offseason Trade Candidates

Andrew Mangiapane

The Chicago Blackhawks took on Mangiapane at the NHL trade deadline. The deal intended to help the Edmonton Oilers clear cap space while giving two former Blackhawks a chance to play in the postseason.

Since joining the Hawks, Mangiapane hasn’t exactly impressed. He’s got one goal and one assist in seven games. He’s missed about two weeks with an undisclosed injury. That situation has pretty much made him expendable as younger players like Anton Frondell, Sacha Boisvert, and even Landon Slaggert have taken up potential spots Mangiapane could claim.

He’s got one more season at $3.6 million and a full no-trade clause. The Blackhawks could just hold on to him for one more season. But if he isn’t likely to get much playing time, the club could consider moving him to a team needing some forward depth.

It might be a tough sell, but it wouldn’t be hard to imagine Chicago looking to make him part of a trade, if possible.

Teuvo Teravainen

The Blackhawks veteran forward has gradually slipped down the team’s depth chart. At one point, he was a top-six forward. Now, he’s riding the fourth line.

The 31-year-old hasn’t had a bad season. His 12 goals and 33 points in 69 games are decent numbers. But they’re a far cry from his career highs. Moreover, his $5.4 million cap hit isn’t exactly the most enticing for the Blackhawks.

While the team could just keep Teravainen for the final year of his current deal, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear the organization trying to move him. Like Mangiapane, that might be a tough sell. But it wouldn’t be impossible.

It’s also worth noting that Teravainen holds an eight-team no-trade clause. So, there’s a chance to make a move if another team were willing to take on his cap hit. In the worst of cases, the Blackhawks may be amenable to retaining salary on the final year of his deal.

Blackhawks winger Andre Burakovsky

Another potential offseason trade target for the Blackhawks could be Andre Burakovsky. Like Teravainen, the 31-year-old has slid down the team’s depth chart. Plus, his numbers don’t really suggest there’s an upside at this point.

In 70 games this season, Burakovsky has 11 goals and 32 points. Again, that’s not bad. But it’s the $5.5 million cap hit that seems mildly onerous at this point. Sure, the Blackhawks will need to get to the salary cap floor next season, but the Hawks can find a taker for the Burakovsky, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team make a move.

Since the former first-round pick of the 2013 NHL Draft will be a free agent after next season, the Blackhawks may just let the clock run out on his contract.
