Bills Urged to Pull Off Blockbuster Trade for $27.2M Receiver in Stunning Move

The Buffalo Bills made a bold move to acquire DJ Moore to address the receiver position, and the team may not be done.

Buffalo could look to draft a receiver, or the Bills could explore the trade market again. NFL analyst Randy Gurzi of SI urges the Bills to pull off a blockbuster trade for George Pickens of the Dallas Cowboys in a package involving a first-round pick.

“The Dallas Cowboys had shown no interest in trading George Pickens. But that’s the same stance they initially had with Micah Parsons before sending him to Green Bay,” Gurzi wrote. “Pickens is coming off a breakout season. And his price tag just increased following the new deal signed by Jaxon Smith-Njigba with the Seattle Seahawks. If things begin to deteriorate between Dallas and Pickens, Buffalo should be ready to make an offer.

“Sending a first-round pick would be a tough pill to swallow, would paying Pickens’ new salary. But they were willing to target Maxx Crosby who would have cost more to acquire. It’s also accurate to say receiver is more of a need than EDGE, so Buffalo should be willing to make this offer.”

Buffalo acquiring Pickens and Moore in the same offseason would be a surprising move, but it would immediately make the Bills a Super Bowl favorite. Pickens would help bolster the Bills’ offense, but a trade would have to include a lucrative extension.

Dallas franchise tagged Pickens, and if he signs it, he’s set to earn $27,298,000 in 2026. Pickens recorded 93 receptions for 1,29 yards and 9 touchdowns with the Cowboys last season.

Cowboys Could Trade Pickens

If Dallas is unable to sign Pickens to a long-term extension, the team could trade him to get a haul back in return.

Given that Jaylen Waddle was just traded for a first and a third-round pick, while the team swapped fourth-round picks, Pickens should fetch more. So, Cowboys analyst Brian Martin believes Dallas could land a first and a second-round pick and connected the Bills as a potential landing spot.

“The Bills already acquired WR DJ Moore via trade from the Bears for a second-round pick this year. So giving up their first- and third-rounder in 2026 seems unlikely,” Martin wrote. “But, they are still looking for more WR help. So, maybe a first this year and a 2027 second-round pick would land them a true No. 1 in George Pickens.”

If Buffalo can land Pickens, the Bills would have one of the best receiver cores in the NFL. The Bills would have Pickens, Moore, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Joshua Palmer as their five receivers.

Bills Plan to be Aggressive on Offense

Buffalo hired Joe Brady as its new head coach, and he wants the offense to be more aggressive.

Although Brady was the offensive coordinator last season, he believes he can make it more aggressive.

“I’m from the Sean Payton tree,” Brady said. “His aggressiveness, his mindset, and there are so many elements that I believe that we can continue to grow our offense with the pieces that we have. And I look forward to that.”

Brady hired Pete Carmichael as his offensive coordinator, but Brady will remain the play caller.
