Bills Trade Pitch Lands Justin Jefferson for Intriguing Package

The Los Angeles Rams pulled off a trade that many thought was unlikely, acquiring Cleveland Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett on Monday. Now, it’s time to shift our focus to other potential trades that could take place before the season kicks off.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay proposed five hypothetical trades comparable to the deal involving Garrett, including a suggestion that the Buffalo Bills could trade for Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, and came up with a trade pitch.

Bills-Vikings Trade Pitch

Buffalo Bills receive: WR Justin Jefferson

Minnesota Vikings receive: 2027 first-, second- and fourth-round picks, 2028 third- and fifth-round picks

“A team all-in on winning a Super Bowl this coming season would be the ideal suitor for Jefferson,” Kay wrote on Tuesday. “The Buffalo Bills would be an intriguing choice after they came up painfully short last season. While they did trade for DJ Moore to bolster an undermanned receiving corps, they failed to land a true needle-mover to pair with star quarterback Josh Allen.

“An Allen-Jefferson battery could put up historic numbers akin to what Randy Moss and Tom Brady accomplished with the 2007 New England Patriots. It would cost the Bills a haul of future picks to bring the tandem together, but doing so would give the club perhaps its best shot yet at a championship.”

Jefferson has been in the NFL for six seasons, playing in 94 games and recording 579 receptions for 8,480 yards and 42 touchdowns. Buffalo would be getting a home run player in bringing in Jefferson, but the trade would be hard for the Bills to pull off.

Buffalo Already Made a Big WR Trade This Offseason

The Bills have already made a significant move this offseason by trading for Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore, a deal that didn’t come cheap. They gave up a second-round pick in 2026 for Moore, which makes it hard to imagine them parting with a bunch of draft capital to land Jefferson.

Moore isn’t anywhere near the receiver Jefferson is, having managed only 682 receiving yards in 17 games last season, while Jefferson racked up 1,048 yards, but the Bills have gone all in on Moore.

There is a chance the Bills could’ve reached out to the Vikings about Jefferson earlier in the offseason and been told no, which is why they went after Moore in a trade.

If there is a scenario where Jefferson ends up on the Bills this season, then Buffalo would be the favorite to come out of the AFC, even after its arch-rival, the New England Patriots, made a move on Monday.

The Patriots Traded for A.J. Brown

Garrett wasn’t the only player traded this week; the Patriots also made a move by acquiring Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick.

The Patriots should be the team to beat in the AFC East, especially after adding Brown. However, if the Bills manage to pull off a surprise trade for Jefferson, they could regain control of the division and potentially secure their first conference title with Allen at the helm.
