The Buffalo Bills pulled off one of the biggest trades so far this NFL offseason, landing wide receiver DJ Moore to give their offense a much-needed weapon.
It appears the Bills will not make a similar move on defense, however.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter gave an update and the team’s reported interest in Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, pointing out that the team may be prepared to address other priorities.
Bills ‘Out’ on Maxx Crosby
In an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday, Schefter reported that the trade rumors around Crosby have been evolving since the deal that sent Moore from the Chicago Bears to Buffalo.
Schefter reported that the Bears are still in the mix but not likely to get a trade done, while the Bills have pulled themselves out of the running.
There had already been signs that the Bills would have faced tough competition to land the star edge rusher. Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer reported on the âRich Eisen Showâ on Wednesday that as many as a dozen teams were in the mix to land Crosby.
âObviously, calls have come in (for Crosby),â Breer said. âI think a quarter of the league, if not more, is interested in trading for him at various prices, and now the question is, which way this goes.â
And ESPNâs Jeremy Fowler had already reported that the Raiders were seeking a massive haul of draft pick, a price likely too high for the Bills.
âItâs somewhat quiet on the Maxx Crosby front,â Fowler reported. âThis is a layered discussion because a team source said a few weeks ago that Crosbyâs chances of returning were relatively small. But he doesnât plan to request a trade. Heâs tight with Raiders owner Mark Davis, and he probably wouldnât garner a Micah Parsons-like trade package (two firsts and a key player).â
