There’s no question in Mike Singletary’s mind who the best player in the league is.
It’s not Bears quarterback Caleb Williams — though Williams reminds Singletary a lot of his choice, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“Hands down, I’m going to take Patrick Mahomes every day of the week,” Singletary told “Up and Adams” on Tuesday. “But Caleb Williams is in that mix.
“Why Patrick? Because Patrick is a leader. I see a lot in the young kid in Chicago, I see a lot of Patrick Mahomes in him. He may not want to hear that, but that’s OK. I like that, too.”
The Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker pointed to skills on and off the field. Leadership comes only after players put in hard work, he said.
“When Patrick gets in the huddle, they listen,” he said. “When things are down, they listen. When he’s speaking to a player on the sideline, when he’s talking to a guy in the huddle, they’re listening. To me, that’s respect.”
