Bears Get Bad News on De’Von Achane Trade Talks from Dolphins GM

The Chicago Bears can cross one more name off their dream list.

After weeks of speculation linking the Bears to a potential blockbuster move, the Miami Dolphins have made their stance crystal clear on superstar running back De’Von Achane.

He’s not going anywhere.

Multiple teams, including those monitoring the Bears’ ongoing search for offensive playmakers, have reached out to Miami about Achane’s availability. The response has been the same across the board.

“No.”

Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan reinforced that message publicly on Wednesday. He stated Achane is “not available for trade” as the organization reshapes its roster under new head coach Jeff Hafley.

“He is not available for trade,” Sullivan said plainly. “He’s obviously very important to what we’re doing.”

That development effectively shuts down one of the more intriguing offseason rumors tied to the Bears. The team has been consistently linked to explosive skill talent as it looks to build around its evolving offense.

Bears’ Explosive RB Dream Takes a Hit

For the Bears, Achane represented exactly the type of player they’ve been searching for.

He would have been a home-run threat.

Chicago has been connected to several offensive upgrades this offseason. Achane fit the mold and would have been a perfect fit in Ben Johnson’s offense. He is coming off a breakout season which he rushed for 1,350 yards while leading the NFL with 5.7 yards per carry.

He also added 67 receptions, highlighting the kind of dual-threat ability that offensive coordinators covet.

Given those traits, it’s no surprise Chicago was floated as a logical landing spot, especially as the Dolphins began a dramatic roster teardown that included moving on from stars like Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

But despite that overhaul, Achane was never truly on the table.

And now, that door appears firmly closed.

Dolphins Building Around Achane, Not Trading Him to Bears

If anything, Miami’s actions suggest the opposite of a trade is coming.

The Dolphins are not just holding onto Achane, they’re planning their entire offensive identity around him.

Sullivan made it clear the team is actively working toward a contract extension with the 24-year-old, signaling long-term commitment rather than short-term flexibility.

Even amid major roster changes, including the trade of Waddle last month, Achane has remained untouchable.

The belief inside the building is simple.

He’s the centerpiece of their future.

Miami envisions Achane as the focal point alongside quarterback Malik Willis, giving the offense a speed-based foundation moving forward.

Despite his absence from voluntary offseason workouts, the team has expressed optimism about ongoing contract discussions, describing them as “trending in the right direction.”

For teams like the Bears hoping to capitalize on Miami’s reset, they officially got disappointing news on Wednesday that Achane isn’t available.
