Bay Area News Group boys athlete of the week: Joseph Standfield, Mission San Jose basketball

Mission San Jose basketball player Joseph Standfield is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Feb. 23-28.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Standfield had 54.5% of the votes to finish ahead of Bishop O’Dowd baseball player Dimitri Williams, who was second at 43.4%.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Standfield scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead MSJ to a 46-40 win over Rancho Cotate in the NCS Division IV championship.

Votes by email do not count. Only votes submitted through the online poll on the Mercury News and East Bay Times websites will count.
