Atlanta Braves World Series Champion Still Available After Recent Release From Royals

On Tuesday night, the Atlanta Braves played the second game of their series with the Twins in Minnesota.

They lost by a score of 4-1.

The Braves will now look to avoid getting swept on Wednesday afternoon.

Gabe Burns of AJC wrote: “This is the first time the Braves have lost a series at Target Field. The Phillies won again, so the National League East lead is down to 5.5.”

With just over one month left in the 2026 MLB season, it’s worth noting that a former Braves World Series Champion is still a free agent.

As of August 19, Luke Jackson is available to sign with any team in the league.

He was released by the Kansas City Royals‘ organization in June.

MLB.com wrote (on June 23): “Omaha Storm Chasers released RHP Luke Jackson.”

Jackson did not appear in a game for the Royals (at the MLB level).

Jackson has yet to appear in an MLB game for any team during the 2026 season.

He is coming off a year where he spent time with the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners.

Jackson was picked in the 1st round of the 2010 MLB Draft.

His most notable tenure was with the Braves.

In 2021, he helped the franchise win the World Series title over the Houston Astros.

Jackson has also spent time with the San Francisco Giants over his 10 seasons at the MLB level.

He is 24-16 with a 4.22 ERA in 390 games.

They have lost six out of their last ten games.
