The Atlanta Braves are enjoying the best record in Major League Baseball. With a 31-14 record, the Braves are going for another series win against the Boston Red Sox, which is a perfect segway to thinking about a notable trade that could transpire between Atlanta and Boston. If the Red Sox think about selling any of their trade assets, leftfielder Jarren Duran might be one of the first players to be dealt.
In this trade proposal by Heavy Sports, the Atlanta Braves acquire Jarren Duran from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for pitching prospect Owen Murphy and Nacho Alvarez.

Should the Braves Target Jarren Duran?

Piggybacking off the trade proposal, Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller urges the Braves to acquire another corner outfielder:
“Another corner outfielder would be nice, though. Both Mauricio Dubón and Eli White have gotten more work out there than expected with at least 20 outfield appearances apiece, and Mike Yastrzemski hasn’t been hitting anywhere near as well as was expected when he signed that two-year, $23M deal.
Mike Yastrzemski was recently the walk-off hero for the Braves, actually, but he has still struggled, and Jarren Duran is at least on a team-friendly contract, which makes him an attractive trade candidate.
It’s important to note that Jarren Duran has struggled this season as well, and that should drive the price down on the former All-Star reliever, but he’s still expected to produce in some capacity, and it just hasn’t happened yet this season.

Do the Red Sox Want to Trade Jarren Duran?
There have been rumors and speculation about Jarren Duran’s trade status dating back to this time last season.
They seemingly came to an end before the season when *then* manager Alex Cora decided Jarren Duran would be the 3-hole hitter, which… both things didn’t last long.
However, Duran is one of those players who is equipped with such great skills like speed, extra base ability, and solid defense. Boston is also pretty much in free fall at this point. They entered the season with such high expectations, and are 11.5 games (18-26) back in the American League East.

The Atlanta Braves Right Now…
The Atlanta Braves are rolling right now, and it’s been one of the league’s biggest storylines to this point.
Their 31-14 start is one of the best marks through 45 in over 20 years, and several teams who has started as good (or better) than Atlanta this season in the past have gone on to the World Series.
You have to give a lot of credit to GM Alex Anthopoulos, who received a lot of flak for the lack of moves regarding the starting rotation this offseason, and Atlanta’s rotation has been one of the best this season.
