On Thursday, the Atlanta Braves will finish their series with the Miami Marlins at loanDepot Park in Florida.
They have a 2-1 lead after winning each of the last two games.
On Wednesday night, the Braves won by a score of 9-1.
Víctor Mederos made his debut for the team, going 2.0 innings and (allowing no runs).

After the game, Mederos made a heartfelt statement.
Mederos (via Chad Bishop of AJC): “I’ve been up and down for the last three, four years, and never got to come to Miami. What a blessing it is to be able to come here and play in front of the home base.”
Mederos was sent back down to Triple-A after the game.
That said, the 24-year-old could continue to get chances with the Braves going forward this season.
The Braves wrote (via X) on Thursday: “The #Braves today selected RHP Carlos Carrasco to the major league roster and optioned RHP Víctor Mederos to Triple-A Gwinnett.”

Mederos was picked in the sixth round of the 2022 MLB Draft.
He spent the first three seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Angels.
Earlier this year, Mederos was traded to the Braves.
Over 13 career games, he has gone 0-3 with a 7.90 ERA.
The Braves wrote (via X) on April 3: “The #Braves today acquired RHP Víctor Mederos from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for international bonus pool money, and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club transferred RHP AJ Smith-Shawver to the 60-day injured list.”

The Braves have been the best team in baseball (and top team in the National League East) with a 34-16 record in 50 games.
They have gone 7-3 over their last ten games (and are 18-8 in 26 games on the road).
Following one more games with the Marlins, the Braves will return home for a series with the Washington Nationals that starts on Friday.
Last season, they missed the 2025 MLB playoffs.
