On Saturday afternoon, the Chicago White Sox will be in Sacramento to play the Athletics for the second game of their series.

Before Saturday’s game, the White Sox announced that they had claimed Osvaldo Bido.

He had recently been with the Atlanta Braves.

The White Sox wrote (via X): “Prior to today’s game at the Athletics, the Chicago White Sox claimed right-handed pitcher Osvaldo Bido off waivers from the Atlanta Braves and transferred right-hander Prelander Berroa to the 60-day injured list.”

Bido has gone 1-0 with a 6.30 ERA in six games this season (for the Braves).

He had been recently designated for assignment by Atlanta.

The Braves wrote (via X) on April 16: “The #Braves today selected RHP Ian Hamilton to the major league roster and designated RHP Osvaldo Bido for assignment. The club also optioned LHP Hayden Harris to Triple-A Gwinnett following last night’s game. Additionally, RHP Spencer Strider tonight begins a rehabilitation assignment with High-A Rome.”

Bido’s MLB Career

Bido spent the first year of his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He then pitched two years for the Athletics before joining the Braves.

Over 64 games, the 30-year-old has gone 10-13 with a 5.13 ERA.

White Sox Right Now

The White Sox are currently 7-13 in 20 games, which has them as the fourth-place team in the American League Central.

They are 3-6 in the nine games they have played away from Chicago.

Following the Athletics, the White Sox will start a series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 21 (in Phoenix).

The franchise last made the MLB playoffs during the 2021 season.
