Ashton Jeanty Receives Big Personal News Amid Raiders Offseason

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty has been keeping busy this offseason. He participated in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic and has started to do some livestreaming stuff.

He has also been keeping a close eye on the Raiders’ big offseason that saw them add a potential franchise quarterback in Fernando Mendoza and a new head coach in Klint Kubiak. Though he’s entrenched as an NFL star now, Boise State hasn’t forgotten the impact he made on the program.

The Broncos announced that they are permanently marking the No. 2 yard line in honor of Jeanty, who wore No. 2 in college.

Jeanty has arguably the greatest individual season from a Boise State player ever in 2024, when he rushed for 2,601 yards and scored 30 total touchdowns. This led to the Raiders drafting him with the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Many would consider him the greatest player in Boise State history, and he was a big reason for their success in recent years. He wasn’t able to have a lot of playoff success with the Broncos, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he carried them to a 12-2 record in 2024, which was the program’s best season since 2019.

Raiders Brought in Running Mate for Jeanty

Running back wasn’t a huge need for the Raiders heading into the draft because they have Jeanty, but they didn’t have a capable backup on the roster. Kubiak loves to utilize multiple running backs, so the team decided to draft former Arkansas running back Mike Washington Jr. in the fourth round.

He’s a different type of running back than Jeanty. He’s more of a speedster who can make plays in the passing game. Jeanty wasn’t offended that the Raiders added another running back and thinks the two can complement each other.

“I think our run styles will definitely complement each other,” Jeanty said on his YouTube channel. “I’m excited for when he gets in the building. We can build this rushing attack and do something special.”

Washington Isn’t Settling for a Backup Role

Though Jeanty is entrenched as the starter, Washington isn’t going to make his life easy. He’s looking to become a legendary player, but that’s not going to happen if he’s playing second fiddle to Jeanty.

“It means I’m gonna do everything that I say,” Washington said on “Upon Further Review.” “I’m looking to put on a Gold Jacket, you know? And I know it’s big words, but I have high expectations of myself and I’ve always been that way.

“Some people may hear this and they laugh, but people have been laughing at me my whole life. So I always use that as a chip on my shoulder just to prove everybody wrong. So that’s what I mean by that – I have super high expectations of myself and I will exceed those.”

It will be good for the Raiders to have competition in the running back room. Jeanty is a generational running back talent, so Washington is going to have a major uphill battle trying to take snaps from him, but it sounds like he’s going to do everything he can to get on the field.
