Arsonist starts fire in Campbell business

March 11

SOLICITING, RESISTING OFFICERS: 10:32 a.m. at San Tomas Expressway and Highway 17. A man was panhandling within 500 feet of a freeway off-ramp. During contact, he made threats to kill officers.

RETAIL THEFT: 7:56 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Bascom Avenue. Two suspects entered a store and stole approximately $450 worth of merchandise.

March 12

PETTY THEFT: 5:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Campbell Avenue. Someone came into a store and stole cigarettes.

ROBBERY: 3:08 p.m. in the 900 block of West Hamilton Avenue. Three males wearing masks smashed display cases and stole purses.

BATTERY: 10:45 p.m. in the 900 block of Ravenscourt Avenue. The suspect threw something at the victim and hit him in the face.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, VANDALISM: 9:57 p.m. in the 00 block of West Hamilton Avenue. A man caused a disturbance trying to fight and threw things in a store. He broke a window to the store, causing damage in excess of $400. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and unable to care for the safety of himself or others.

PETTY THEFT: 7:10 p.m. in the 1600 block of South Bascom Avenue. Someone stole the rear tire and seat off of a bicycle.

DUI, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: 7:33 p.m. in the 3400 block of Winchester Boulevard. Two people were passed out in a vehicle. One was found to have been driving under the influence of a depressant. A search of the suspect and his car yielded suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

RETAIL THEFT, ROBBERY: 6 p.m. in the 500 block of East Hamilton Avenue. Four suspects entered a business and acted in concert to steal items. When confronted, One suspect threatened to beat them up if they intervened. Loss was $40 in perfume.

March 13

BURGLARY: 1:07 a.m. in the 2400 block of Winchester Boulevard. Someone broke the front door glass of a business and stole approximately $100 of cash.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: 9:22 a.m. at 100 block of East Campbell Avenue. A man was in possession of multiple types of controlled substances and in of lost property.

ARSON: 5:43 a.m. in the 2600 block of Winchester Boulevard. A man entered a business with people inside and intentionally started a fire, damaging property. He was found with drug paraphernalia.

BURGLARY: 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Virginia Avenue. Someone broke into a construction site and stole $10,000 worth of tools.

March 14

THEFT: 10 a.m. in the 1900 block of South Bascom Avenue. An employee who had been fired later returned business property including a credit card. They admitted to “accidentally” using the business’ credit card after termination for personal gain.

BURGLARY, BATTERY: 10:15 a.m. in the 1200 block of Camden Avenue. The suspect entered the victim’s unlocked and ajar hotel room without his permission. The suspect approached another victim, punched them one or two times on the nose and fled the scene. The victim sustained visible external injuries, with a possible broken nose.

PETTY THEFT: 6:25 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Bascom Avenue. Someone shoplifted two vinyl records.

VANDALISM: 4 p.m. in the 600 block of East Campbell Avenue. Someone vandalized the bathroom at Campbell

March 15

VANDALISM: 5:22 p.m. at South Winchester Boulevard and East Latimer Avenue. Officers responded to multiple calls about someone spray-painting several buildings and street signs. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival.

ROBBERY: 4:06 p.m. in the 2500 block of Winchester Boulevard. A woman stole items from the establishment, and pushed and kicked two victims.

PETTY THEFT: 10 p.m. in the 200 block of Morrene Drive. Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a wallet and headphones.

March 16

BATTERY: 4:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Budd Avenue. The suspect physically battered the victim during an argument. The suspect and the victim had been dating for approximately six years.

DUI, POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA: 12:51 p.m. at David and North Central avenues. A man was driving and collided with an object. He had last used fentanyl a day prior and displayed objective signs and symptoms of being under the influence

BATTERY: 9:36 p.m. in the 200 block of East Rincon Avenue. the suspect struck the victim twice in the face.

RESISTING ARREST: 8:50 p.m. in the 600 block of Louise Court. A man was standing in a resident’s driveway. He got in a vehicle and did not yield to emergency lights and sirens when a traffic enforcement stop was attempted. He parked in front of his residence, jumped the fence to his backyard and climbed on the roof. A records check revealed he had an outstanding warrant.

March 17

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: 12:09 a.m. in the 1000 block of South Bascom Avenue. A man was in the roadway yelling at cars and being drunk.

PETTY THEFT, POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA: 11:25 a.m. in the 2000 block of Winchester Boulevard. A man shoplifted from two businesses. He was contacted and found in possession of stolen goods, drug paraphernalia and ID that did not belong to him.
