Antioch murder leaves teenager dead, detectives launch investigation

ANTIOCH — Police are investigating the murder of a Pittsburg teenager who was found fatally shot in Antioch on Saturday.

The victim was identified as a 16-year-old teenage male, according to Antioch police.

Antioch police officers reported to the 1700 block of Observation Way in Antioch at about 5:12 a.m. on Saturday and found a male seated inside a car suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Officers said the victim was aged 16 but didn’t immediately release the name of the teenager.

Police officers administered life-saving measures until they were relieved by a fire crew and paramedics.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The investigation into the shooting determined that the victim was shot in the 2000 block of Tupelo Way.

The locations where the shooting occurred and where the victim was found are separated by roughly 1½ miles and a five-minute drive, according to Google Maps.

Officers canvassed the 2000 block of Tupelo Way and found the scene of the shooting.

Detectives with the Antioch police violent crimes unit took charge of the investigation, law officers said.

“This is an active investigation,” Antioch police said.
